Tough Skin, Soft Heart – a blog about growing stronger, better, and wiser

Life hurts. People injure. Disappointments arise. Mistakes get made.

Tough skin, soft heart is a guidebook for developing the resilience needed to successfully navigate the valleys of life and leadership.

The commitment to awake each day with intentionality to give your best, love unconditionally, and operate with compassion and integrity demands tenacity and
resolve. You will be tested. Challenges will arise to see what you are made of. Pressures arise daily that push and pull against our very core. No one is exempt from pain, trials and tragedy, but the great news is you can triumph! We are all walking history books full of rich illustrations of bounce back and triumph, woe and relief, sorrow and story.

While I can’t tell your story, I can share my story. This blog is an ongoing reminder that true leaders are made of the tough stuff! If you love, lead, or serve anyone at all you’ve probably realized that you can’t wear your emotions on your sleeve. People are fallible…but news flash: WE ALL ARE! This blog is about refusing to retreat from life when dealt a raw hand. Tough Skin, Soft Heart living means refusing to give into the temptation to lump and bundle people into the ‘no good’ pile just because of encounters with a few ‘ugly-acting’ folks. This blog is about not giving in to the temptation to builds walls that inhibit us from seeing the best in others or ourselves when life or those in our lives hurt us. Developing tough skin and cultivating a soft heart means not allowing what irks us to make us irksome, irritable and bitter. This blog is an anthem of what it takes to act with boldness, courage, and love each and every day.

Tough Skin, Soft Heart is about…

Merging intention and impact…

Bringing healing to the walking wounded…

Self-love and ongoing personal growth…

Giving grace before you need grace…

For the leader teetering on the brink of burnout…

For the person whose feelings have seemingly been hurt one too many times…

This is my open letter of how I stay inspired to shake off what I cannot change, to respond versus react and to live each day with tougher skin and a softer heart.

Read and be inspired, laugh, reflect, and share your story on what helps you maintain a commitment to cultivating tough skin and a soft heart.
